WASHINGTON (October 4, 2016) – A farm-to-table television program produced with the Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) was nominated for its third Emmy® Award by the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Farm Fresh Road Trip takes viewers around Minnesota to see well-known chefs prepare dishes with farm fresh foods produced by local family farmers.

“It is important that we educate consumers about how and where their food is grown, and we’re excited to see the Minnesota Farmers Union have immense success with Farm Fresh Road Trip,” said Roger Johnson, president of National Farmers Union. “The collaborative team behind this television show has found a creative way to highlight local agriculture across Minnesota, benefiting both farmers and rural communities.”

Hosted by veteran Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) program host and political reporter Mary Lahammer, Farm Fresh Road Trip promotes a broader effort by MFU to support family farmers and the local food scene. The program, which aired its third installment last Sunday on TPT, is a collaboration between PBS, MFU and Minnesota Cooks, a farm-to-food educational group.

The second program installment, Farm Fresh Road Trip 2, is one of only four nominees in the Lifestyle – Program/Special/Series category. MFU President Doug Peterson and Education Director Bruce Miller are among the team being nominated for their work as producing partners. All winners will be announced at the award ceremony on Saturday, October 29, in Bloomington, Minn.
